Second Annual Lecture, Hong Kong: mission accomplished or unfinished business?

The rise and rise of litigation funders

As part of Hong Kong Arbitration Week 2017, Gavan Griffith QC presented the Second Annual Lecture for the Asia Pacific Region to a packed-out audience on 18th October.

With our lecture series we offer guest speakers a platform to provoke thought and challenge the audience, and we were delighted to be the first funder to invite Gavan Griffith.

He reflected upon the position of third-party funders as established players in the international disputes industry and revisited security for costs applications in international disputes as they may be affected by the participation of a litigation funder, as unfinished business three years on after he flagged the issue as ripe for examination in his assenting remarks in RSM v St Lucia.‎

His background notes for the extempore lecture.
