The traditional route of training within a law firm is no longer the only option open to aspiring trainee solicitors. There are a multitude of in-house training programmes offered by businesses that can provide trainees with real commercial experience, alongside their technical qualifications.
One of the newer routes to traineeship, is to train at a litigation funder like Harbour. We launched a trainee scheme in 2019 and our first trainee Felix Curtis, is due to qualify in late 2021.
In an article for Legal Week, Mark King explains how training at a funder like Harbour can help a trainee focus on and develop their commercial skills, with a view to progressing into an asset manager role.
It can also be an invaluable tool for law firms who can benefit from secondments to gain knowledge of the funding industry.
